How to turn any drawing into a professional looking drawing - Part 3Similar principles apply to paintings. If you're painting, make sure that you have small, pointed brushes with you. They will allow you to work on the tiniest detail. When working with details, here's tip number 2: Always ensure that there are no stray lines lying around This is another one your finishing touches. Remove all unwanted stray lines, or close them up so that they make sense. This will make your drawings or paintings look much cleaner and real. The third tip that I have for you, is another BIGGIE. Learn to blend tones and colors gradually This single tip alone will separate you from the majority of artists. Why is that so? Most artists don't understand that human beings love it when change happens gradually and absolutely hates anything that happens suddenly. When we go to school, we want to be familiarized with the culture of the school gradually. So we attend orientation programs, have buddy systems and so on. When we start a new job, we want to be given tasks and responsibilities gradually (though not always nowadays). When we move to a new house, we want to be able get accustomed to the surroundings gradually. We see that this is true for almost anything new. New jobs, new environments, new experiences, etc. When our eyes look at a drawing, the same rule is at work here. We like to see one form gradually blends into another form. And if our eyes are following details, we like to see how the details fade gradually into the distance or how they gradually merge into the shadows. You have to try this to understand how this simple, yet powerful and effective rule works. Finally, Ensure that contrast levels are satisfactory. Contrast draws attention naturally. So in order not to confuse our eyes too much, we want to make sure that only the right areas are properly contrasted to gain focus. If you're working in monochrome, make sure you have pencils with different values and if you're working with colors, pay attention to the intensity of colors that you're going to apply. Okay, that's all I have for you in this report. Apply the information that you've learned in this report and give your family and friends a REAL treat with your professional looking drawings! |
