How to draw a cartoon car - Part 2

Transferring the Subject

You can transfer the subject using transfer paper. Transfer paper is a piece of paper that has been covered with a soluble surface layer, and is commonly available in local art supplies store.

The transfer paper is placed face down on the drawing paper, and the subject is placed on top. Using a hard and sharp point, trace the lines on the subject, and these lines will be transferred to the drawing paper. You can then start working on the sketch.

If you do not have transfer paper, don't worry. I'll show you two other ways to get around this.

First, print out the monochrome picture that I've attached to the end of this report. Use a dark drawing tool like an 8B pencil and shade the outlines of the subject. Only shade the lines that you want to appear on the drawing paper.

When you are done, turn the monochrome picture face down and use any hard object like a wooden stick and rub it down on the drawing paper. This will transfer the lines to the drawing paper.

The next method is the method that I've used, and if you've read the other free report that I've put out called the "ABCs of Sketching", then you'll know that I'm talking about using the measuring method. This is the most hassle free method and is not limited to just drawing photos.
